GitHunt is a tool that shows you the hottest open-source projects on GitHub ranked by stars, updated regularly so you can discover what the developer community is excited about right now. Instead of scrolling through GitHub's search results or reading tech blogs, you get a curated feed of trending projects organized by week, language, and format. You can use it two ways: as a web app you visit in your browser, or as a Chrome extension that lives in your browser toolbar. Both versions let you browse trending projects in a list view (traditional rows) or grid view (card layout), and filter by programming language, like if you only care about JavaScript projects or Python libraries. The app remembers your language preferences so you don't have to reset them each time. Developers, tech leads, and project managers use this to stay current on what's gaining traction in the open-source world. A startup founder might browse to see what infrastructure tools are rising in popularity. A junior developer might hunt for well-starred projects to learn from or contribute to. Someone evaluating a technology can quickly see how much community interest it has attracted over recent weeks. It's especially handy because you can look back at past weeks, just keep scrolling to see older trending lists, so you're not locked into just today's snapshot. The project is built as a React application, which is a JavaScript framework for building interactive web interfaces. The code is open to contributions if you want to add features or improvements yourself.
