Requires Codex Desktop already installed on macOS, installed via shell scripts that add a separate skinning engine.
Codex-QQ-2007 is a visual skin for Codex Desktop on Mac, the OpenAI coding tool, that changes its appearance to look like QQ 2007, a Chinese instant messaging app from the mid 2000s built for Windows XP. It restyles Codex with the old blue Windows XP title bar, a toolbar styled after Office 2003, and a three column layout reminiscent of that era's chat clients, while every real Codex feature underneath, like projects, tasks, messages, code blocks, diffs, and approvals, keeps working exactly as before. The project only changes how Codex looks, not how it works. It does not modify Codex's actual app files or its code signature, and it does not touch your API keys or model settings. You install it by cloning the repository and running a setup script that adds a skinning engine alongside Codex, then choosing this QQ 2007 theme and starting Codex through that engine. A button at the top lets you switch back and forth between the retro look and Codex's normal appearance at any time, and your choice is remembered between restarts. There is also a personalization script that lets you set a custom nickname, a status message, an experience level number, an online status, and even swap in your own small profile picture and cover image, all in the old QQ style. The project includes its own verification and restore scripts, so you can confirm the skin applied correctly or roll everything back to Codex's default look if a Codex update changes something underneath. This is a lighthearted, nostalgic customization aimed at developers who already use Codex and want a fun throwback interface, not a tool that changes what Codex actually does. All QQ-styled graphics included are made from scratch for this project and are not official Tencent or QQ assets.
A nostalgic visual skin that reskins the Codex Desktop app on Mac to look like the classic QQ 2007 chat client, without changing how Codex works.
